Get a Metal Roof Quote
A metal roof quote that does not state the gauge, the finish system and the underlayment is not a quote you can compare to anything. Ours states all three, and we will tell you if composition is the better decision for your situation.
What the quote states
- The system: standing seam, stone-coated steel, exposed fastener, copper or synthetic slate
- Panel gauge, and for standing seam the seam type and clip spacing
- Finish system — PVDF (Kynar/Hylar) or SMP — and the finish warranty term, separately from the substrate warranty
- Underlayment product and its temperature rating
- Flashing scope at every valley, hip, sidewall, chimney and penetration, in compatible metal
- Ventilation: what exists and what is being corrected, intake as well as exhaust
- Rot allowance: a per-sheet rate for sheathing and per-linear-foot for fascia, fixed in advance
- Permit, debris disposal and inspection, included and stated
What we will ask you
- How long you plan to own the house — it genuinely changes our recommendation
- Whether an HOA or architectural guideline applies
- The current covering and its approximate age, and whether there is more than one layer
- Whether you have ever had a leak, and where
- Whether solar is on the roof or planned, since that changes the sequencing
We will tell you not to buy it
If you are selling in a few years, composition is almost certainly the better financial decision and we will say so. Metal is roughly 4.6% of Sacramento County re-roof permits for a reason, and we would rather lose the job than sell you a premium you will not recover.
Cutting Edge General Contracting is the contracting party, CSLB #1007180, General Building. Roofing is installed by a licensed C-39 roofing contractor under subcontract, as Business and Professions Code §7057(b) provides. Verify any licence at cslb.ca.gov before you sign anything, ours included.
Common questions
Do you charge for a metal roof assessment?
Not within Sacramento County, and you keep the written specification and photographs whether or not you engage us — including if you use them to obtain competing bids, which on metal is a genuinely good idea.
How much deposit will you ask for?
On a California home improvement contract the down payment may not exceed $1,000 or 10% of the contract price, whichever is less — Business and Professions Code §7159.5. That applies to us like anyone else, regardless of material cost.
